For seniors who tend to feel isolated during the holiday season, a thoughtful gift can mean the world to them.
We want to know the best gift you’ve given to an older loved one or friend during the holidays. Were they expecting it? What was their reaction? Big or small, tell us your gift-giving story in the comments and why you think it was the best.

The best gift I’ve given is my love and time . At my moms assisted living facility sometimes these are the two gifts people need the most .
I made a purple Duck tape rose for Ms. Liston because she loves purple.
I gave my grandma a collage book of her favorite place, a Catholic mission she was not longer able to visit due to her health issues. Some photos included were of her & my son, whom she loved so much. There were also quotes throughout the book about Heaven on Earth (she always would say the mission was Heaven on Earth). She treasured that book & looked at it quite often.
It has been a while but I gave someone my company flowers and dinner
I fed and have mo ey to all the homeless people at the park.
Purchased dinner and delivered
Ok
Spending few minutes of your time talking and sharing stories with them is the best give you can ever give to a senior. Material things doesn’t matter anymore to them, what is important is to make them feel that they are not alone and worthless but loved and cared for.
I gave some winter boots that are easy to put on and take off.
I just helped a senior carry her greceries and walked to her car while holding on to her so she would not fall on ice

On the card I said when you open this gift you will see one of the prettiest women l know.. She was so touched. Better yet, it put a smile on her face and warmth in her heart..

I bought a box of Russell Stover candy to give my friend. I also made her some pumpkin bread .
I gave her a little Christmas tree that lights up and changes colors.
And made her a wreath to hang on her door to help her celebrate Christmas.
She is 93 years old and such a joy to be around.
Sitting i room with Mom when she had alzheimers and just letting her talk. She loved to talk about things, and doing chair exercises with her….buying her a hamburger…she loved them.
I would say that listening to them talk and go on and on about the news of their day. I feel blessed because by this little act, I can give someone a little happiness.
My favorite gift as a senior is when my caregivers take time to give me something like personal things I need shampoo conditioner body wash. Anything like that is very personal to me for them to do it.also a time for us to talk and has a wonderful day together.of course the most important thing s they give me is their time to listen to me talk about me as a young woman like they are
I gave a Senior a Christmas-wrapped box containing her favorite food items – in single serving sizes! Also included frozen meats & chicken, again, single serving packaged.

One year, I volunteered with the Volunteers of America to put together and deliver holiday baskets.
While the filling the baskets was fun and heart warming – so many volunteers ; it was delivering them that really hit home… many seniors lived in small, very old apartments in equally old buildings .
When you, as a 30 y.o, are exposed to poor seniors, it changes you – you realize tje work you’ve done is really appreciated , and that good feeling? Its having made a difference.
P.s I’m a low income senior and the CO. Gerontological Society delived a basket to me……
As I am a senior, no family, friends passed , when Christmas hits, I:
-buy a pointsetta. Red is very uplifting.
– put up a lot of mini LED lights. ( I’m investing in batteries )
– bake non- high altitude cookies. My mom’s recipes demand it !
– grateful I’m celebrating

Trying to help a senior get his rights restored after being institutionalized By someone making false allegations and illegally pursuing guardianship without his permissions
Making them aware that they can get vaccines

When our beloved Grandma Betty was still with use, we purchased a digital photo album and filled it with photos from the entire family. She loved seeing her entire family in one single frame
A few weeks ago, we adopted a senior from a local adult day care. We were told she was the fashionista of the group and that she loved hats and red & brown lipstick, so we purchased a beautiful red velvet hat, along with a stylish warm beanie and matching gloves. I also found a lovely set of red lipsticks and threw in a few bags of sugar free candy.
My time
And lots of love
I have made weekly visits with good conversation with my 91 year old friend, who is dying of cancer.
Warm pajamas and slippers. Seniors are always cold.
An impromptu visit this morning to my former Art teacher from high school, whom I had not seen or communicated with in 30 years. I let her know how much I enjoyed her jewelry/metal art class and what an inspiration she was to me. She remembered that I was a quiet student and she wasn’t sure if she was connecting with me. She taught me the beauty in creative expression through art, a true passion of mine. An unexpected and beautiful gift for each of us this holiday season. ❤️

Yesterday(Dec, 20,2020). I gave twelve eggs to our old neighbor 214-8860No.1 Road. He is getting old , he almost 80 years old (a lump on his stomach last week, he went to Vancouver hospital for surgery.) He is alone (because his wife doesn’t like to care about him)

I am a Senior.
I cook for elderly individuals who live in a senior center. Since Covid-19 I haven’t been able to drop off food lately.
Instead I go shopping for someone unable to make it to the store.
I took 2 pints of ice cream to a home bound senior. One to share and one for her freezer.
She enjoyed the company as we laughed and reminisced about earlier moments in our lives
I am a senior who’s had no income since January, been hit and run, bad surgery, still trying to recover, going to food banks. Didn’t receive Stimulus cheque earlier this year. Why am I on this text list when I could use some help myself?
Did you see my previous comment
The biggest and best gift was the gifts of time and love.
💚💙💜
I made 8 hand-stamped metal washer bracelets (one for each night of Chanukah), that said “hero = essential =“ (in a circle). Each bracelet was in a small bag, with a card that said “thank you for being essential!” I sent them to my grandpa, for him to give to staff at his residential facility.
I got my grandmother a custom blanket with pictures of her grandchildren, late husband, and her children. She was so happy.
