Being kind is one of the easiest and most impactful things you can do for an older adult. And besides, doesn’t it feel great to put a smile on someone’s face? Start your 2021 off right by making a resolution to do random acts of kindness for seniors in your community.
Here are five simple ways you can show kindness:
- Smile and say hello to a stranger on the street.
- Open a door or offer a seat to someone.
- Call or text an older relative or friend who lives alone.
- Write a thoughtful note or letter and leave it in your neighbor’s mailbox.
- Bring someone cookies or other baked goods
What kind acts do you plan to do in the new year?

I am a senior and I would like to know if you had or knew a contractor who works on older homes. Many of us need home repair work. Is there anyone who can assist us.
Helping the order friends
I keep in constant contact with an elderly honorary aunt who lives alone .She is like family to me so I treat her like she’s part of it . I also talk to my mom via video chat at her assisted living facility since they are still closed to visitors.
I call a senior lady every other day.
We have a neighbor who is a retired teacher in her 80’s. A few days after the holiday my dog and I visited her, with my mask on, and delivered some fresh chicken and biscuits and Biscotti’s for her tea. She nearly wept ❤️
Yes I believe I can take them shopping and out for a while sound very interesting I have done my mother that way and several other people certain days that they always want to go out

I put pocket crosses into neighbors’ paper boxes when I go on a walk. Many of my neighbors are elderly, but I give them to everyone.
I plan to continue to check on my elderly neighbor friend as I’ve been doing. I take her to appointments and shop for her when she doesn’t want to or can’t go out. Hoping the pandemic ends soon so we can get back to our lunch outings that she really enjoys.
I check on.my neighbor with calls and messages, often. We also share our meals with one another. I believe this keeps both of us more active!
I care for my 90 year old mother and see a strong woman and positive role model become fearful of the changes she is experiencing as she continues to age. My support and discussions about those fears have made a difference in keeping her encouraged and positive sbout her life and her future. The benefit for me is an overall feel good!
😊😊😊I pray these three smiling faces makes some feel happy today. Blessings sent to all.
1- say hello Bettyclo, smile and give her a hug.
2- Ask if you can make her a cup of coffee, ask how has she been , if there is anything special she would like to share with you , etc.
3- Ask what she will like you to do for her, offer to do something special for her eg give her a ride to places of interest eg parks and shopping centers , etc.
4- Ask about her family, tell her about your family too.
5- make her to feel independent eg allowing her do some stuff by herself, in she want to.
Opened a door for somebody
I enjoy writing & sending cards to elderly friends or ones I know in my church & community. Some enjoy texts but getting mail seems to be appreciated by recipients & their families. Having , cards, address labels, & stamps handy makes this project much easier. Setting a specific day on the calendar to do communication also is a good way to accomplish this. I find this enjoyable for myself as well as my friends. Blessings to all in the New Year of 2021.

I m A Senior
I am taking my neighbor to the grocery store and the doctors today. I try to help her whenever she needs help.
Over the weekend, thank God, I went to help a long-time neighbor with something even before today’s text showed up suggesting things to do. God has helped me to try to keep in mind things to do ever since years ago in Boy Scouts I learned to Do A Good Turn Daily. America desperately needs many people doing right not doing wrong. I’m very thankful Ready To Care supports what is good and right. That IS how things ARE supposed to be.
I have provided care For an elderly resident who is just like my mom with comical sarcasm, and such soft hands and helps me with my knitting and and her interest of croqueting has sparked again. I’m happy to say she Is improving from communication and trusting each other.
I know elderly persons need to see happy and sweet faces, compassionate persons who help them to move a chair, to put their grocery bags in their cars, to open the doors for them, to go up on the stairs, etc
It’s easy to make somebody happy, with your smile, tenderness and honesty , specially when someone is disabled.
I make it a point of smiling and saying hello to strangers especially when I’m out walking my dog.
Today I did 3 acts of kindness
There was an elderly gentlemen sitting on a bench when I was going to work one morning I Said hello how are you today and he said Oh, I am doing OK… I went inside and decided to give him some Christmas cookies, he was so happy! I told him I was making coffee and would he like some and he said I sure would! I asked him if he would like water also and he said yes, please. I brought him water, the coffee , more cookies and a bottle of water for later. He was so happy, it made me feel good. All before I opened up for the day of work. A little while later he was gone, but the look on his face was priceless!
I helped a senior coming out of a store carrying her grocery to her car. She was grateful and thanked me very nicely.

Hi I do this on daily basis
Calling an elderly friend who is all alone during Covid
Because I am a senior and lonely I try to always be kind and considerate and talk to anyone I can. You can always find something nice to say like your shirt is so pretty or I like your hat. It’s harder now with Covid, everyone’s wearing masks, but a simple smile does wonders and may be the only one they see all day. My one downfall is that I’d like to send more notes to people. I know I’d love to get mail that’s not a bill and a card makes me happy so I think others would appreciate the same.
I stopped by an elderly neighbor’s. She was feeling down- useless and very lonely she said. I couldn’t even give her a hug because of Covid. I suggested she consider doing some volunteer work from her home.
“Be My Eyes” is the service where blind or seeing impaired people can call thru video/phone to a sighted person who can answer questions, like asking them which tie they are holding is blue. Simple, but so valuable. She thinks she may want to do it!
I’ll continue praying for others and doing whatever I can whenever I can. Thanks for the wonderful article
I’ve been taking the time to stop for more than a “hello” with the seniors I see while out walking my dog. They always seem surprised but glad to chat about the dogs, the weather, the kids or cat that wander by, whatever new is happening on their street. Takes no time but almost always a warm exchange – and they catch me now first when they see me too 🙂
I call and chevk ona couple in their late 80s I met at Bingo and have become family to me. they were very active volunteering and playing bingo and now they have nothing and i see depression setting in…I work all week but try and get them out on weekends…very sad
I HAD trying to get in touch with you,but is a little complicate to get in touch with you.

Praise God for His Loving Grace and Mercy that dwell in me and I’m blessed to share with my family
All Glory be to God
Talk to them! Engage them in conversation. They may look old and crabby it’s only because nobody ever talks to them I think their opinion is worth anything. You’d be amazed at how much you can learn from older people
Smiling at people, offering help if I can, to take a senior to the store or doctor
Kathleen
1kind act!
I called 4 elderlies today to wish them new years blessing and to chat a little.
They were happy to hear from me, and long to see me one day.
Spent time playing board games and talking.
Wrote a pen pal letter.
1. On MONDAY’s, I pick up prepared meals from a church in the community and carry them to the incapacitated individuals.
2. I mail cards and deliver the church bulletin on SUNDAY as well as special events at church.
I always smile and say hello to every senior I walk by, and usually I tell them how nice they look too! That is something they might not hear all the time either… I also send cards to all my seniors in my life and I call them regularly to check on them too and see what’s new in their lives, and I always let them know how much I love them!
Thanks for these little tidbits on being mindful in our day to day living by showing others that we care in even the smallest ways can possibly be exactly what they were needing at that time in their lives… And since we are in the end times I’ve noticed that a lot of people’s hearts are waxing cold right now! It’s sad because only LOVE conquers all! God bless everyone who reads this and stay safe out there! Oh, and read your Bible as much as you can right now, and pray unceasingly for all you need in life! And also repent for your sins and turn away from all evil doings, as there’s not much time left before Jesus returns (the first one that says they are the Messiah will be the AntiChrist, Jesus Comes Back After the AntiChrist comes here first and rolls out the New World Order, and don’t take the vaccine, as it will change your dna to be satans creation as a transhuman and no longer Gods creation as a human being! 🙏❤️🌺😉
