I’m Lucky to Have You

It’s a great time to let a senior know that you’re lucky to have them in your life.
Finished this kind act? Log it!

Though we may think they know it, it’s important to remind a senior of how important they are to you. Just a few words can make someone feel like they matter – that they are loved and cared for.

And while we may be a year away from normal March festivities, here are a few ways to let your special senior know how lucky you are – despite the lack of playful pinching.

  1. Send a card – You don’t have to be Irish to appreciate the thoughtfulness that a festive card brings.
  2. Share an old picture (through mail, email or text) of you both – There’s no better way to stir up happy nostalgia than a good picture of you and your loved ones and friends.
  3. Pick up the phone – Though our fast-paced culture may lead you to believe otherwise, one of the easiest ways to make someone’s day is by giving them a call.

I’m always telling my senior friends how much I enjoy their company. I got the phone number of one’s daughter to send her a funny picture. I bought her Pop a silly hat & he loves it! I sent a second message saying how much I enjoy his company. Showed it to him.

I am currently volunteering for a young man running for a local position in our distract. He kindly gave me 3 boxes of food pantry boxes. I gave one of them to my senior neighbor and disabled husband and the other to a young neighbor who is a nurse.

I am so lucky to be able to chat with you. I know that it is a strain not to be able to see your family. But I know that we can at least Wright letters and video chat.

I volunteer and deliver Meals on Wheels every Monday. Today I brought one of the Seniors, that I look forward to seeing every week, a piece of cherry pie. The smile on his face was priceless. He looked up at me and said, did you adopt me, because you are always so kind..I said Yes if you will let me..

I call and visit an 88 yr old woman who also lives with her daughter who’s 65. They both have health issues so I vacuum and dust as they have difficulty doing much. Think they enjoy the assistance and visiting!

Thank you for you being helpful to us younger generation.

By your example you have shown us we can do it. I know that you have shed thousands of tears and many times you didn’t know how you didn’t know how you were going to do it.

But you got up you did what you ha to do and you continue going forward. I saw so many of you doing that. And with your example I have kept going forward.

Thank you,

Laura

I spent some time with my neighbors dog he’s kinda old and so is the owner but those two are one of a kind people, you don’t really run into a person with an animal that’s exactly the same. I love them both deeply and I told my neighbor about me singing up for a pen pal she was very excited for me.

Good Day my friend, here I sit wondering how do I start my letter. I was talking to my other friend last night, he said he was brushing his tooth which was funny. But he dropped it, and looked down to see it and didn’t realize he was still holding it, it went up his nose. Poor guy. He said it gotta be Monday but it was Tuesday. Plus I myself had a procedure done on my heart, I go for a recheck Thursday. Keep me in ur prayers please. Easter is coming up real soon. I carry so many memories of when I was younger, but I would love to hear ur memories. U know people never realize that they or we are in good hands. With the staff around. Our meals are taken care of, laundry and housekeeping. There are plenty of people praying for what we have. God, is good. What a friend we have in Jesus Christ. Which is why we celebrate Easter. Listen I will be back have a Fabulous Day. Be Blessed

I held my mothers hand as she died. I would like very much to know a senior in Wenatchee WA that needs help with cleaning (I’m a housekeeper at Confluence Health clinics and hospital. I would also love to help a senior here to be able to keep their pet (I know how important pets are and I have…. basically my whole life of experience.
This service seems to be more of online support but I know many seniors can’t really deal with technology (I myself am just on the transition “line”. Had to teach myself.
I don’t know if you connect people in person but I would really like to and have passed like 20? Background checks over the years of working with children, entering people’s homes for pet care/house cleaning, and hotel cleaning and now hospital/clinics cleaning. (Now that I think about it, EVERY job I’ve ever had lol.
Anyway, I would love to clean house, take shopping or a walk, care for pets, or just be a friend.
Watching my mother die from dementia was heartbreaking. I just want to help someone else in need.
Getting old SUCKS!
