Home Instead and Honor Employees Spread Holiday Cheer to Older Adults

Home Instead employees provide 500 meals to seniors.

Gandhi once said: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

As an initiative built on the message of relentlessly helping seniors and creating a world we all want to age in, Ready to Care is proud to be in the thick of community outreach -- an arm of a company that believes in the words it promotes to others.

During the holidays, our work serving seniors shines brightest. Our team is excited to celebrate the following achievements.

More than 500 meals delivered to seniors!

For Thanksgiving, Home Instead and Honor employees helped provide hot meals to countless seniors across the U.S and Canada. In Omaha, Neb. alone, more than 500 lower-income older adults were provided meals from our volunteers. Not only is giving back the right thing to do, but with more than 15 million 65+ Americans living with economic insecurity this past holiday season, many of these families may not have had a meal otherwise.

Thousands of holiday gifts delivered to seniors

After a record-setting level of participation in 2020 that saw 130,00 gifts distributed to 80,000 seniors across the U.S. and Canada, our (BASTAS) program was once again a huge success. This success stemmed from the 237 Home Instead franchise owners who participated in the program this year, as well as the many volunteer hours dedicated by their employees and families.

Thanks to a partnership with Amazon Business that allows gifts to be given through online donations, BASTAS generated even more cross-country heart-warming stories – including a woman in Florida who sent a gift to New Hampshire to honor her late father.

As we look to the New Year, how will you become ready to care for aging adults? Check out these kindness ideas and inspiration to get started.
