Tell Us What’s on Your Mind

One aspect of isolation is not being able to regularly communicate with others. We are here and we want to listen. Tell us what’s on your mind.

I’m Ready to Log It!

In a study regarding social disconnectedness in older adults, participants were asked if they were able to talk with others about their worries or concerns. Those who answered “no” to this question were more likely to identify themselves as lonely. In times of isolation, not being able to communicate about important matters can have an impact on one’s mental health, at any age. If you are struggling with this, we want to offer a listening ear.

This week, if you need to talk, please tell us what’s on your mind.

  6. I am a bit lonely but I see family outdoors and distances every couple weeks. We also communicate in other ways, texting, calling, etc. Otherwise I only leave the house if I need to.
I am frustrated with people’s lack of caring about others. They refuse to wear masks and distance so us old, sick people are still locked in our homes. This is my 4th month and I don’t see it getting better for a long time.
I am extremely saddened by the civil unrest and the cause of it. Sad stuff, these killings, riots, fires, civilians and cops being killed. It’s just terrible.
I’m fine though. I’ve been lucky to be able to stay home, some people have some risky jobs and are working hard at it.
    COUNTING MY BLESSINGS!

  14. I would like to share but don’t see where? I’m a young senior turned 60 in March. My husband of 65 died of a sudden heart attack this Feb we have a big house o. An acre of property we were raising our now 5 yr old grandson as his foster parents. Mac came to us really emotionally and mentally abused and neglected. Now I have to do everything by myself it’s been so challenging for me. I do not have anyone I can relate to. Im sad off and on Mac had a support system in place but covid kept us isolated. I know I’m blessed with a home etc.. just reaching out to find someone I can help from a distance. I have some support. I need so much help with everything and keep praying for it. Managing and trying to be a parent for a young child with behavioral issues and af my age drains me! I will adopting him this fall. I’m sure I have it better than many folks. I feel lonely for folks that maybe in my situation just haven’t found them yet! Thanks for listening

  18. I feel guilty and almost useless as a person for having to stay home to protect myself as an immune compromised individual during this pandemic and time of civil unrest. I have been feeling better, but also socially alienated and guilty since cutting off Facebook and not being involved like I once was with politics. Part of me wants to hide from it all and the other part is looking forward to being able to start helping others more.

It’s been 3 months and I keep in touch with her through video calls and she has expressed that she is happy that I video chat with her because she likes to have live interaction because she doesn’t get to see anyone anymore. I’m happy to do this and it helps me, too.

  28. I read this mission as if you were asking me-personally.
So I will tell you what is on my mind.
I am 59. I lost my husband to kidney cancer in July 15-2017.
So my third year anniversary of losing my husband, Dann, is coming up.
I have no family nearby except a sister I am not close too.
This Covid time has added to my isolation as many around me. I am finally getting I some routines, as well, as looking at the finances and other estate issues truly scary and overwhelming. I can tell I’ve grown because I’m facing these issues with leas fear, more bravery and surprising confidence.
Thank you for reading what Is capturing my thoughts these past few weeks.

  32. I am really missing my mom. I want to hug her and go visit her. She is in a nursing home and has dementia. I buy things and drop them off for her and I buy for her roommate as well. They are besties. My mom raised me to be that way. I love them both so much. I worry about all of the people there becoming depressed , because of the quarentine. My mom and her roommate have started packing to leave again. They were getting good about not doing that as much. I miss the people that take care of them as well. They are a wonderful group of people. And work very hard to keep them all healthy and safe. I just wish I could be there to help. I don’t do much, but I like to do what I can.
